EOD M-38A1

Post by Ben Dover » Fri Sep 14, 2012 6:54 am

One of the most colorful M-38A1 Jeep paint schemes I have ever seen were on those assigned to EOD units at various military bases. EOD "EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL" Jeeps were SG OD with Gloss Insignia Red Fenders. They usually had a CO2 Fire Extinguisher mounted inside and a fine mesh Spark Arrestor on the rear of the muffler.

Anyone have a photo of an EOD paint scheme? Google was no help.

I do not have a reference right here, it was simple, the 50's-60's vehicles such as M-38A1, M-37, and M-35 were 24087 SG O.D. and just the front fenders were painted gloss Insignia Red. There are pics floating around.

Add some color to your M-38A1, paint it up as an EOD Jeep.

As luck would have it, Military Vehicles Magazine posted this photo of an EOD M37 today on Facebook.

Wonder if Lt.Fuzz was the passenger in the child seat. Looks like someone has a nice M-37 Not sure about the rear fenders tho.

EOD Jeep anybody? The late Cyclops Ram aka Ross Moir used to show up at events in an EOD vehicle.
