type of gun mount used on a M151?

Post by Dion » Sun May 07, 2017 10:33 am

Hey Guys,

Just a quick question. was the typical WW2 type M131 gun mount used on the Mutts in Vietnam or were there specially manufactured Gun mounts produced for the Mutts?
Could it be that the M131 was used early on and then changed or were these not used at all?

Thanks for any information in advance.

regards,

Pedestal Mount, M-4. It was a shorter mount similar to M-31 with adaptors specific to the M-151. Rememember, the M-151 has stability problems and this mount took that into consideration..

Not sure if the hole pattern on the bottom flange of the post is the same. The Pedestal is in two section,s the Column, and extension. the extension lifts off the column. The column and extension assy. are considerably shorter than the M-31 Pedestal. It gets its height by mounting on a two piece support that is about a foot high.
I have the TM9-1005-245-14 that show the M-32, M-4, etc, plus all Mounts used on tactical vehicles of the 50's-70's. I am unable to scan it at this time.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your comments, highly appreciated! I know someone who is traveling to a country where there are several M4 pedestals lying around and I've asked him to organise postage for one or two of them back to South Africa. I'm hoping that maybe they'll fit and if not, maybe an adapter of some sort could be made.
