Re: M151A1 begining of new project
Hey Rick I need someone to make my lines I don't have the tube bender or flare kit. If some here can make them it would be nice.

Re: M151A1 begining of new project
I could probably do it as I have some of the small lines already off but I would have to take the bigger lines off of mine to duplicate them and right now I am jammed up getting ready for a trip on Labor day. I think you are wanting this stuff quickly. Hopefully someone else is able to do it on short notice.

Re: M151A1 begining of new project
I ordered some stencils from Rick and made the mistake ordering the stencil stickers thinking along I ordered the paint stencils as before oh well this will hold me up until the major strip down, So what is the location for the following:
24 Volts: Is it on the box or body?
Max Speed: above the gages or by the grab bar?
Antifreeze: any location?
I know the placement of all other stencils these three I would have to take a guess. Thanks in advance for your input.

Re: M151A1 begining of new project
Hello again, its been awhile and now I have a new question. What is used to support the airlines below the front lift bracket? I went ahead and made the lines and routed them from what I have seen across the board and in TM's.

I have not seen any supports on any of the ones I have worked on.The way they are bent they are pretty stable just as they are. It looks like you may have used copper line? That may shake around but the original copper alloy lines were almost as stiff as steel lines. And I do have some steel lines I got off of am early A1 or straight 151.

Re: M151A1 begining of new project
Rick,
I did make them out of copper based on what I had originally on the engine of the same materiel but were butchered up with rubber hoses in between each part. So what your saying is the original material used is copper alloy for A1 models? Because all my lines are copper so would only the line from the air intake to the air pump and from the carburetor to distributor copper alloy? Looking over my engine serial number appears to be the original mod number. Just trying to be as close to the A1 vintage. I know lots of folks convert from A1 fuel system and gen to A2 but I'm staying all A1.

Re: M151A1 begining of new project
I have seen steel lines, cooper/nickel alloy like they use in brake lines and all copper. Unless you are driving it as a daily driver I would not worry about the copper lines. Copper lines on a daily driver can work harden and crack but it takes a lot of vibration and movement, you are not going to get that in parades and weekly drives to car shows and the like. On older oil pressure gauges with copper line you will see the line is coiled so the line acts like a spring spreading out the movement in the metal. I would always have problems with then right at the fittings.
That might be a good question for Ken, is there a spec anywhere for the original lines? I cannot recall ever seeing those lines rusty?

Re: M151A1 begining of new project
I agree and remember when I was in the Army and a mechanic I only worked on M151A2 in Korea during the phase period in the late 80's we would use what ever material available so I totally understand and found it a bit odd that all my lines are copper and old knowing there were on for a while. Yes Ken's input would be great.

Re: M151A1 begining of new project
Tail light upgrade; I will be posting pictures as soon as I can figure a photobucket work around. Ok, for the hardcore M151 fans stand down, lol. here we go. I've been thinking of adding some better taillights. At first I added LED bulbs and looped the blackout to stop to make it brighter but then really wasn't happy with the service being to dim. I'm was a bit worried nobody really seeing them while driving and you know what the Military teaches us, "Lights on during the day & lights off at night" So I wanted to add LED tailights but keeping the traditional fixture. So I bought some 4" LED fixtures and removed all the guts from the traditional fixtures. Then I milled 1/2 down and 1/4" out to preinstall the fixture. Rewired red to 22 white to 21. Now this keeps the traditional light fixture with a much brighter tail light.
Now for the front fixtures stay tuned

lost most of my photos from photobucket and didn't realize they would also be removed from my post so I've been trying to locate and repost my work in progress.

Re: M151A1 begining of new project
update well I'm finally getting time to start working on my MUTT. I just ordered my canvas top. Hope to have it in the new year. I was getting tired of driving in the hot sun down here is Texas. Went for drive with my dog, "Sarge" Replaced a few lines and I seem to be working backwards. I'm going to have to replace my headgasket. So Ill post some pictures after im done. So how are we posting pictures now that photobuckets is running the scam of requiring a service fee to post pictures.

im trying to post a picture so it only works by giving a link? it doesn't post a picture in the actual tread? ok I figured it out, "thumbnails for forms" this will work. Test picture of my engine, thanks.
